Responsible Conduct of Research

Annual Meeting RCR Track 2014

The Association is also pleased to announce a new RCR Program Track for the 2014 Annual Meeting, and we welcome discussions of conceptual, practical, and pedagogical issues in research integrity and the responsible conduct of research.

Submissions for this track will be considered in the following categories: (1) Formal Papers or Individual Presentations; (2) Panel discussions; (3) Pedagogical Demonstrations; (4) Case Study Presentations; (5) Posters and (6) Creative Arts Presentations (e.g., short play, poetry, or fiction).  Please see the Submission Guidelines for full details.

Authors who wish for their submission (presentation, panel, poster, etc.) to be considered for the RCR Program Track should indicate this in their email so that it may be directed to the research ethics subcommittee for peer review.

RCR Poster Presentations

New this year will be an RCR Poster Presentation. We are happy to consider posters on any topic related to RCR, and we particularly encourage posters describing how the author’s home institution is providing RCR education and meeting the requirements of the NSF America Competes Act.

The RCR Poster Presentations offer another format for those interested in sharing their scholarship or other work at the meeting, beyond the formal papers and panels discussions.  In addition, the session will offer an opportunity for individual networking between scholars and others who are interested in the presenters’ topic or research.  Not all disciplines routinely offer poster presentation sessions, but some do, particularly in medicine, the sciences, and some humanities.  We encourage attendees from all disciplines to try out this format and submit an abstract for the RCR Poster Presentation Event at the APPE Annual Meeting in Jacksonville, Florida.

Please see the RCR Poster Presentation Guidelines page for more details.

Poster submissions will be accepted only for the RCR Poster Presentation.  This includes any topic that pertains to research integrity and/or the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR), such as research ethics education or training, ethics in research and scholarship, academic culture, ethical decision-making in research, and academic misconduct.  Posters may present any type of research, program evaluation or assessment results, theoretical analyses, curricula, or descriptions of institutional practices, programs, or policy efforts.  They may be empirical, theoretical, conceptual, practical, and/or pedagogical.  The only requirement is that they be related to RCR.

Poster Submissions

To reserve space for your presentation, you must submit an application form through the regular process for conference paper/presentation submissions (2014 APPE Submission Form), and mark your submission as intended for the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) track.  The deadline for all submissions, including posters, is October 25, 2013.

Please see the Submission Guidelines and Categories page for full details.
